Course Outline and Method

本講義では、知的財産法に関する英文の教材を用い、読む・聞く・話す・書くという全てにおける基礎的な学術英語力を身につける。

[概要]
知的財産法とは、著作物（音楽・映画・写真など）・商標（アップルなどのブランド名や音など）・特許（医薬品や車の部品など）などの創作活動や標識を保護する法体系である。

[講義形式]
日常生活に関連する知的財産を中心とし、英語を交えた講義→英文教材の逐語訳と要約→関連するトピックについてのプレゼンテーションという形式をとる。
予定されているトピックは、音楽のサンプリングと著作権、キットカットの形状と商標権、コーヒー豆をめぐるライセンス契約、エイズと医薬特許などである。
提出課題に対しては、適宜全体講評を行う。
受講生の英語力および意欲によっては、部分的に英語のみによる講義やディスカッションを導入する予定である。
Students are reminded that, depending on the average level of English, the second half of the class shall be conducted entirely in English.


Student Attainment Objectives

１）日常生活において身近な知的財産を通じ、英語による法律用語や表現について学ぶ。
２）講義内で取りあつかうトピックについて、英語で発表したりエッセイを書いたりできるようになる。
３）英文の講読と要約を通じ、法律英語の力を涵養する。

Recommended Preparatory Course

目安として、TOEFL ITP® Test 480～530 あるいはTOEIC® LISTENING AND READING TEST 580～630があるとよい。そのスコアに達していなくても履修登録は可能。

Class Format

BCP停止の場合は、BCPレベル0～2の記載どおりに授業が行われます。
During the suspension period of BCP, classes will be as described in BCP levels 0-2.

BCP レベルが 1~2 の場合には、原則として教室で対面形式で実施する。
BCP レベルが 3 以 上の場合には、この授業が予定されている曜日時限にオンラインでライブ配信形式で実施する。
