Course Outline and Method

The emphasis of the English program is REACH which stands for Responsibility, Environment, Awareness, Collaboration, and Humanitarianism. The aim of this course is to develop students' communication skills that would be needed in their careers after graduation.
Engaging in a series of learning activities, students practice reading, listening, writing and speaking in English in a variety of real-world contexts. They learn how to find information effectively for specific purposes, using tools, skills and background knowledge. They also learn about differing ways to express meaning when interlocutors or when aims of interlocutors are different. In the end, students should have confidence in using English whenever they need in their future careers. Students also have opportunities to work on learning activities outside the textbook material, directed by the instructor. The instructor will provide feedback in the physical classroom or on manaba+R depending on the activity.

Advice to Students on Study and Research Methods

Active participation in class activities is required. Participation includes in-class activities (questions, comments and group work) and activities via manaba+R (reading course news, turning in assignments, contributing to discussions on the bulletin board) and other methods required by the teacher. Contact your teacher early if you have any problem due to the current COVID situation. Please remember you are responsible for any information you miss if you are absent. Keep track of when your assignments are due: no (and late) submission will lower your grade. Taking TOEIC ® L&R Test is not mandatory, but is highly recommended.
