本講義の目的は、国際政治学を理論的に理解するために必要な基礎を現実の国際政治の歴史的経緯を踏まえつつ学ぶことにある。現在の国際政治現象を理解するためには、第一次世界大戦、第二次世界大戦、そして冷戦への理解を深めることが不可欠である。それゆえ本講義では、まずこうした時代について、国際政治学の理論を通して学んでいく。この部分は講義形式で進める。さらに、以上の知識を踏まえて、冷戦が終焉して25年以上が経過した現在の国際政治をどのように理解すればよいのか、近年の国際政治理論の新潮流を学びつつ考察すること。これが本講義の目標である。こうした考察については、講義内でのディスカッションや、ミニテストを通して行う。なお質問等に対するフィードバックは、マナバ+Rおよび、講義内で行う。
