授業の概要と方法

This seminar aims to develop students’ original ideas on the issues of international law on persons, especially in the following fields:
   International Criminal law
   International Human Rights Law
　International Law of Armed Conflict
   International Refugee Law
To achieve this, the seminar encourage students to participate in the events such as International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition (in May), the International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition (in November) or Zemi Research Convention (in November).

受講生の到達目標

(1) Legal thinking
 Students will acquire:
(i) technics of interpretation and application of rules and principles of international law
(ii) deep understanding of the different functions of rules and principles
(2) Legal presentation
 Students will become able to:
   (i) develop a persuasive legal argument
(ii) effectively use technical terms of international law
(iii) demonstrate skills of practical/academic legal research and writing

事前に履修しておくことが望まれる科目

 Students are supposed to know basics of the relevant subjects
 It is strongly recommended to participate in the following courses:
Introduction to law, Academic Skills, International Law, International Organizations, International Human Rights, Peace and Conflict Studies

 Participation in moot court competition is time-consuming and requires a lot of effort and commitment.
 Learning legal skills is similar to learning a new language. Students need to devote oneself to follow the arguments in classes
