国際関係や国際社会を理解するうえで、データによって理論や事実を裏付けることは非常に重要である。この科目は、国際関係学を学び論文・レポートを作成する過程で、必要なデータを適切に収集し、そのデータが意味することを正確に理解し、論文・レポートの趣旨に沿った基礎的な統計処理の技能を獲得することを目的とする。
講義形式で学ぶだけでなく、パソコンを用いて統計に関わる様々な実習を行い、さらに、毎週の授業復習のためのクイズと6回の課題によって、統計学の理解を深める。クイズは翌週に、課題は提出時あるいは提出翌週にフォローアップを行う。

Recommendations for Private Study
毎週、授業の確認クイズをmanaba+Rにて実施する。これも評価対象なので必ず回答すること（目安10～30分）。
6回の課題も確実に提出すること（目安30～90分）。なお、課題はフィードバックのあと、必要に応じて再提出することを認めている。
