Course Outline and Method

概要
この授業では、クオリティペーパー（高級紙＝世界中のエリート向けの新聞）の記事を読みますが、テキストに取り上げられている記事は、政治・経済・国際問題などというこむずかしい内容のものではなく、学生にとって身近で現代的な社会や文化にまつわるテーマを扱っています。

方法（本文読みは予習）
①パラグラフ読み→おおまかな内容確認→細かい部分を読み取る
②内容理解のためのエクササイズの答え確認
③自身の考えを一文ほどで書く

興味を持ったトピックについてmanaba上で自身の考えを書く課題を設けます。

・現代社会における興味深いテーマについて多種多様な意見を知り、自分の考えを持つことができる。
・一段質の高い英語の語彙や表現を身につけることができる。

１４回の授業すべてを対面で行います。

Recommendations for Private Study

予習する章の 本文をまずパラグラフごとに目を通して（あるいは音読して）大まかな内容をつかんだあと、内容理解のためのエクササイズに取り組む。
本文に出てくる未知の単語は辞書で調べ、文章の文脈に沿った意味を理解しておく。
各章が取り上げているテーマについて背景などをリサーチしておくこと。
本文を読む段階で、部分的に音読する。
