Course Outline and Method

【クラステーマ】「私の心の京都」Kyoto on My Mind

このゼミでは、あなたの心で捉えた京都をコンテンツとし、動画の形式で発信します。

英語で日本の宗教や文化を英語で伝えようとする際、単に日本語をそのまま英語に翻訳するだけでは、その真髄が伝わらないことがあります。例えば「八百万の神」をそのままEight million godsと訳しても間違いではありませんが、その心を伝えるには、言葉が生み出された歴史や文化を理解し、説明する必要があるでしょう。

このゼミでは、今回は京都を切り口に日本の文化や宗教を捉え、自分の興味・関心を持つ点を追求します。そして、英語で説明するにはどうすればよいかを自分なりに考え、伝えることを練習します。その中で、清水寺執事補の森清顕さんをお招きし、清水寺に関するレクチャーを受け、日本の宗教について理解を深めます。

最終プロジェクトとして、自分だけの「京都」（Kyoto on My Mind）をコンテンツにし、動画の形式で発信します。 この機会に立命館が創立された京都を自分の目で見直し、解釈し、動画で発信してみましょう。

Student Attainment Objectives

1. 多様なオーディエンスに向けた英語でのコミュニケーション 背景知識のない聴衆に対して、日本の宗教や文化について英語で説明できるようになること。

2. 自分の視点の明確化と多様なオーディエンスへの発信 自分が伝えたいことを明確にし、宗教、文化、言語等の背景知識のないオーディエンスに向けて発信すること。

3. 動画形式での制作スキルの習得 動画コンテンツを制作するための必要なステップや要素を理解すること。 動画を通じてアイデアを伝えることができるようになること。

4. コラボレーションを通じた改善（Kaizen） フィードバックを交換し、自らの作品を独自に改善できるようになること。

この授業は5回をオンライン（第6、7、9、10、13週目（←変更しました））、9回を対面で実施する予定です。

学生は毎回の授業で自身の作品のアイデアや制作の進捗を発表し、ディスカッションを行うことが求められます。発表やディスカッションのためのリサーチや準備が主な課題活動となります。
