授業の概要と方法

This course aims to build basis understanding and analytical skill of students to deal with emerging urban issues, diversities, vulnerabilities and challenges. Students will understand the policy and action planning and issues related to the problems, gaps and limitations in sustainable, inclusive and resilient urban development, especially in Asia.

Class will be mainly face-to-face
Total Class time: 90 min.

A. Lecture will be: 60 min.

B. Class exercises and presentation, Debates in Urban Issues and Challenges, Mini Test : 30 min.

In every class last 30 min. will be students' class exercise and presentation or mini test or debates related to urban issues and challenges.

Within the last 30 min Guidance and Monitoring for final presentation/report will bebgiven

受講生の到達目標

After successful completion of this course students will build their ability to analyze emerging urban issues, challenges, institutional approaches, gap and limitations. Following are the specific student attainment objectives.

1. Development of better understanding about basic concepts of sustainability, urban and rural forms, urban
     planning and sustainable urban development .
2. Making the students familiar about the critical issues and challenges that present cities are facing.
3. Improving students' ability to analyze urban issues critically and in an integrated way.
4. Building their ability to contribute in sustainable urban policy formulation and implication.

Sustainable Urban Policy VI course will provide some benefits for the students; but it is not must required.

授業実施形態

In principle, face-to-face classes will be held, including the first class (media classes should be limited to no more than 7 times)

授業外学習の指示

There is no single and specific textbook for the course. Reference books, journal papers and websites be introduced in the class. Students are advised to go through international journal articles, reports and documents related to sustainable development and urban problems.
In addition to these, reading following books will enrich students understanding.

成績評価方法(備考)

There will be no final exam. Evaluation will be continuous process in every class. Class attendance, mini test, class exercises and debates related to urban issues and sustainability and final presentation will determine the Grade of a student.
Total 100% marks of the course will be distributes in the following way:
Class Participation/ Attendance 15%
Mini Tests 30%
Class exercises, debates and Presentation 25%
Case study and Final Presentation 30%

受講および研究に関するアドバイス

Students' are advised to study journal papers related to urban issues and problems. Students can have knowledge about sustainable urban development, challenges and approaches by visiting the website of UN-Habitat, C40 cities and such other sites
