Course Outline and Method
本講義は、社会マネジメント系列における英語文献の講読を通じて社会科学に関する知識を得るとともに、英語で正確に理解できる読解力を身につけることを目的とする。
英語文献に接してその内容について議論することで、学術論文の構造や分析的な論理展開を理解し、政策科学を学ぶ上で必要な論理的思考力を醸成することを目指す。
こうした目的のために、政策科学の研究に不可欠な社会科学の知識を英語で学ぶうえで効果的と思われる英語学術論文を取り上げる。具体的には、福祉国家論や政策過程に関わる学術論文を、履修者の読解力を踏まえて、適切と思われるものを取り上げる。
授業内においては、著者の主張・意図・論理展開に関する理解を深めることを目指す。

Recommendations for Private Study
当該科目は、英語論文を予め読んできていることを前提としているため、毎週の「予習」なしで授業は成立しないことを心されたい。また、小テストのための「復習」も重要である。
