Course Outline and Method

This course is a business major subject offered in English. This course is designed to acquaint students with marketing and to present how marketing theory is used by companies to create customer value, develop sustainable competitive advantage, and to fulfil their strategic mission and objectives.
Specifically, in this course, we will learn more about marketing in English from select marketing strategies used by various global companies. This course covers how companies examine customer values, design their products, market through various channels, and how they communicate with customers. Based on the foundational principles of marketing we learned in the first year, this course aims to develop our knowledge of marketing mix and offer more practical strategies that can be utilized in your future career. Additionally, while enjoying learning this course, you will also practice your English skills. All lessons and workshops will be done in English. Our teaching assistants will support you if you have trouble with your understanding.
This course follows both a lecture style which mainly consists of lectures by a teacher and a cooperative learning style in which students learn actively. To increase students’ active participation and anticipate their application of marketing principles, we will have a group-based presentation with respect to “the crucial role of store managers in retail firms’ sustainable growth”.

Other Comments

One of our class sessions will be transformed into a special event designed to foster communication and engagement within the EMI course. This event will take place during what would normally be our fourth class session, but the exact timing is flexible and may vary each semester. Attendance is required. Those unable to participate will need to complete an alternative assignment.
During this session, we will step away from the traditional classroom setting and engage in a dynamic exchange of ideas related to Integrated Marketing, Corporate Accounting, and International Business with international students. While the discussions will be business-focused, the primary aim is to encourage lively exchanges and enhance motivation to participate actively in the EMI course.
Refreshments will be provided to complement the experience. Further details, including the specific date and logistics, will be communicated at the start of the term.
