Course Outline and Method
This program will offer you to join live lectures and exciting discussions with people from overseas using zoom format. The LMS (manaba+R) will help you with assignment submission, feedback, and QAs with lectures and our colleagues from RU(Ritsumeikan University).
The umbrella topic for the Course 2023 is "Technology and Society". Participants will work in groups with colleagues from universities from France, the Czech Republic, and Armenia to discuss, give oral presentations, and collaborate on writing based on lecture content and reference cases.
All sessions will be conducted in English except Orientation Session, Mid-course Reflection Session, and Final Reflection Session. I welcome the participation of international students and students who wish to engage in cross-cultural exchanges in English with new friends from abroad. Let's have fun together and exchanging different views and opinions across disciplines.
* Recruitment guidance will be held before Call for Application, so please watch bulletin on manaba+R carefully not to miss the announcement for your opportunity to join an exciting program. I highly recommend all interested applicants must attend the guidance and grasp the map for the course. Language will be Japanese in guidance session, but if you are an international student and feel more comfortable with English, questions will be answered in English and it is my pleasure to help you any time.
* It is a live online course and you can access it from anywhere in the world. You can join the course fully regardless of where you are at the time. Again, all the enthusiastic students from in and outside of the country are welcome.
* The more detailed schedule and the latest plan will be announced at Orientation session.
* The primary activity will be group discussions and presentations of the discussion results in English. I will form a special social networking group site to provide a place where participants can help each other, exchange opinions, receive updates of course references, and submit your assignments such as collaborative writing outcome.

Advice to Students on Study and Research Methods
1. I strongly recommend that you use a PC instead of a smartphone. Since there will be online activities such as real-time collaborative writing, I believe that keyboard operation will be more efficient.
2. Please make sure you have a stable Internet connection.
3. I recommend you to turn on your camera during group discussions, presentations, Q&As, and attendance checks. Please check how to use your camera effectively and safely in advance. (It is possible to set the camera to blur the background so that the environment in which the students are attending is not visible. Safety of the participants is important.)
4. Computer microphones are sometimes inadequate. It might cause difficulty for the audience to hear the sound or there may be noise, even if you are not aware of it. If you find such a problem, I recommended you to prepare an external microphone.
5. Although you may feel it difficult to discuss in English, once you start, only the key to success is to keep participation until the end. We all help you. Both overseas students and faculty members are very much looking forward to meeting and working with you.
