Graduation research aims to develop abilities to find methods to solve problems for specific research subjects, to apply methods of engineering, and to present the results of the research clearly. In “Graduation Research 1”, students will attain a firm understanding previous studies and research trends related to a research field in an allocated research laboratory and develop a well-defined research theme. At the same time, students will acquire the ability to select an appropriate method to achieve the research goal in this course.

(1) To study and investigate the related knowledge and research, to independently frame processes and apply multiple techniques toward problem solving.
(2) To set the research theme and make a plan to implement it, advancing toward Graduation Research 2.

Students are expected to acquire the following skills required as a researcher and an engineer in the field of Information Systems in order to achieve the above objectives.
(1) Skills to set up and improve the research environment on their own
(2) Skills to investigate fundamental knowledge and research in related field
(3) Skills to find, analyze, and solve problems
(4) Documentation skills and presentation skills
(5) Self-management skills to independently develop and execute a plan

上記以外の試験・レポート、平常点評価 （日常的な授業における取組状況の評価）	100	Must satisfy the following conditions for the evaluation. (1) To attend at least 2/3 of all the classes. (2) To make presentations in prescribed meetings such as a lab seminar, conferences and etc. Refer to the following notes for the evaluation criteria.

 The supervisor evaluates students based on the following criteria after instructing each student individually on the optimal contents and procedure appropriate for the research subject.
(1) Basic knowledge: To have the knowledge required to carry out the research.
(2) Research skill: To have background knowledge, to understand the position of one’s research.
(3) Skills to find, analyze and solve problems: To clarify the problem, to have sufficient evaluation and assessment in advance, to voluntarily contribute ideas.
(4) Planning and implementation skills: To independently propose experimentation plans, to actively engage in management of researching and developing methods, to effectively collaborate and cooperate with joint researchers, etc.
(5) Research contribution: Recognition of research and development achievements, description of future issues and outlook.
(6) Ability of expression: Logical clarity, appropriate use of descriptive text, graphs, and tables, and ability to answer questions appropriately.
(7) Self-management skills: To independently develop and follow a research plan, etc.
(8) Continuous assessment: Attitude to work on the research, attending and participating in seminars and discussions, etc.
