This class will be taught in English

Politics encompasses power, politicians, political parties, policy, the media, and the messages they broadcast, which helps to shape public opinion. This class will analyze the language used by leaders and the mass media and its effect on the public. We will also enhance our awareness of the power of politics and the role of politicians and gain a deeper understanding of the political spectrum.

Along with the topics listed below, we will also analyze three historic speeches in American history. They are: President Kennedy’s 1963 Inaugural Address, Martin Luther King’s "I Have A Dream" speech and Barack Obama’s 2004 Democratic Convention Keynote speech.

受講生の到達目標

The student will gain a basic understanding of the operations of the U.S. government, including the functions of the executive, legislative, and judiciary branches. A basic understanding of political ideologies, philosophy, and different government forms will be considered. As 2024 is an incredibly important presidential election year in the U.S., we will discuss presidential elections, their implications, and the powers that come with the office.
