Course Outline and Method

アメリカの伝統ある科学雑誌、Scienceのオンラインニュースの記事を読みます。理系・文系の区別なく関心を持てるような、科学の今を伝えるトピックが集められています。たとえばダイエットの難しさを脳の働きと関連付けて解き明かす研究や、実用化に向けて研究が進むバイオマス由来のプラスチック製法の紹介など。
一授業読み切りの、わかりやすく論旨のはっきりした英文で書かれており、エクササイズによって内容理解を深めます。時間があれば、内容について自分の考えを書く、意見交換をする、ということができます。

Student Attainment Objectives


1. パラグラフ毎に内容を大まかに把握し、記事全体の要約を言うことができる。
2. そのうえで、詳細をないがしろにせず、単語やイディオムを理解することができる。
3. 科学技術の特定の分野について自分の意見を英語で表現できる。
