Course Outline and Method

Course Outline
This course chronologically introduces computer's transformation from a specialized instrument for science to a commercial product, the emergence of small systems, the advent of personal computing, and the spread of networking.
It also introduces how the evolution of computing has fit into a climate of prosperity and a strong consumer market in the United State.

Lecture Method
During class, we read the textbook carefully word by word, and then deeply understand those contents.
Students should read the assigned sections of the textbook and understand the content before the class begins.
A chapter test will be given in manaba+R immediately after we have read the chapter. So students are expected to bring their own computer to take the test.

Student Attainment Objectives

Students will acquire deeper knowledge of today's daily routine using computers with a substantial understanding of the historical evolution and transformation of computing.
