Course Outline and Method

The emphasis of the English program is REACH which stands for Responsibility, Environment, Awareness, Collaboration, and Humanitarianism. This is a pre-intermediate class. Through research opportunities and discussion of social issues, students will become more aware of the responsibilities of global citizens. The aim of Thematic Development 1 is for students to be able to carry out discussions and express their opinions in English on various social issues based on REACH. Classes will consist of collaborative activities either completed using manaba+R or in the classroom. Students will work through various assignments in their textbooks either independently or with classmates. Many assignments make use of multimedia such as video and internet links. Students will also complete presentations which will be performed in front of the class or through video. The instructor will provide feedback in the physical classroom or on manaba+R, depending on the activity.
