【授業の概要】
This course aims to develop students’ ability to comprehend and respond critically to broadcast English news media. Through regular viewing of authentic TV news items, students will develop listening comprehension skills. They will also get considerable speaking practice as they discuss issues related to the news.

この科目では、テレビやラジオの音声ニュースを通して時事英語を理解し、情報を批判的に評価し、理解する力を養います。実際のテレビニュースを題材にリスニング力を強化し、内容について議論することでスピーキング力を向上させます。

2023年度は、TOEIC L&R®テストで350〜500点の取得者（または同等レベルの学生）を対象にした定員25名の1クラスのみ設けられます。抽選科目なので、このレベルに合致する受講希望者のみ、受講申請をしてください。

【授業の方法】
本科目は大学設置基準ならびに立命館大学産業社会学部則、立命館大学大学院社会学研究科研究科則において、区分を面接授業とする。詳細な実施方法については、manaba+Rのコースニュース、「授業スケジュール」および「授業実施形態」欄を確認のこと。

Students will develop a range of skills, including the ability to:
1. recognize characteristic features of broadcast news English
2. understand the gist of and extract factual information from a news report
3. follow the sequence of reported events
4. give a brief summary of a news item

次のような技能の習得を目指します。
1. 時事英語特有の表現・文体を理解することができる。
2. ニュースの要点と事実関係を把握することができる。
3. 事実を時系列に沿って理解することができる。
4. 記事を要約することができる。

【授業形態】
BCPレベル1～2：対面授業
BCPレベル3～4：メディアを利用した授業（ライブ配信またはオンデマンド）

【配慮要件（BCPレベル1以上の場合）】
以下の要件に該当する学生に対しては、ライブ配信またはオンデマンドでの配慮を行う。（申請内容に確認すべき点がある場合は、必要に応じて診断書等の公的な証明書の提出を求めることがある）
① 基礎疾患や持病がある等、感染した場合に重症化するリスク（※）の高い学生
② 基礎疾患や持病がある等、感染した場合に重症化するリスク（※）の高い同居家族がいる学生
③ 海外との往来制限により、学生本人が渡日・入国できない場合
（※） 呼吸器疾患、糖尿病、心不全等の国が定める基礎疾患を有する場合

【備考】
・授業スケジュールはBCPレベル1～2を想定して記載している。BCPレベルの変更あるいは受講登録の結果によって、授業形態の切り替えを行う場合がある。変更があった場合にはmanaba+Rで周知を行う。
・一部クラスでは、授業形態が異なる場合がありますので、担当教員の指示に従ってください。

Class instructors will provide students with more information. 各担当者より指示する。また自学自習の一つとして、Beyond Borders Plaza (BBP) の利用を推奨する。

言うまでもないことですが、盗用・盗作は許されません。参考文献やその他の参考となる資料から行なうことはもちろんのこと、友人等が作成したレポート・小論文の盗用・盗作・書き写しをしたり、インターネットからコピー・ペーストしたりすることも許されません。盗用・盗作行為は、著作権者に対する明らかな権利の侵害となるため、本学では悪質なものについて、懲戒の対象としています。

Students should purchase the required textbook from the Co-op (Seikyo) bookstore before the first class. Details of the textbook can be found on manaba+R. 第1回の授業までに自分のクラスを確認し、指定されているテキストを生協で購入して、第1回の授業に必ず持ってくること。 なお指定教科書は、manaba+R ▶「産業社会学部生のページ」▶「産業社会学部の履修」＜外国語科目：教科書＞ に掲載しています。
