Course Outline and Method

This course focuses on the further development of students' reading ability of English. Students will be exposed to a variety of text types and learn efficient reading skills, such as predicting, skimming and scanning. This course especially focuses on identifying main ideas of the passages so that students can adjust themselves to the more academic way of studying expected in the following semesters. Every unit of the textbook has two chapters, each of which includes the core reading passages together with exercises and activities for developing students' vocabulary. The second half of the textbook will be taught in R2.
Throughout the semester, students will receive feedback on in-class activities and assignments from the instructor in order to develop their abilities. Seven class sessions will be delivered via media-based lessons in the semester.
