授業の概要と方法

Students will read a book written in English which focuses on a broad range of issues related to economics, especially, economic development. Each student is assigned to read part of the articles. Students are expected to actively participate in the discussions.

受講生の到達目標

The objective of the course is for the students to deepen the knowledge related to economic issues, especially in the field of development. Upon completion of the course, each student will:
--have a clear understanding of variety of economic issues,
--develop the ability to read academic articles written in English, and
--expand the ability to comprehend present economic systems.

Introduction / Communications among students and the lecturer

As for "+R-Jugyo", please refer to manaba+R. The URL of "this "+R-Jugyo" will be shown in the "Course News" section. Students are expected to take this "+R-Jugyo" before the 1st session.

授業実施形態

The course will be basically conducted by reading materials (a textbook) with in-person communications.
However, from time to time, students may be requested to take on-line lectures (Zoom) by utilizing PC or other electric device.

If students need to take absence, she or he is highly expected to find other attending students to take her or his assignments.

授業外学習の指示

Students will be required to read the textbook before the session, each week. The list of weekly required/recommended reading will be distributed via manaba+R.
Further instructions will be announced by the lecturer at the first session.

Students are evaluated based on understanding: i,e. quality of presentation for the reading (60%) and active participation in discussions (40%).Take-home assignment could be given and evaluated.

The Lecturer will announce the textbook before the starts of the sessions.Tentatively, the following could be the candidate of the reading textbook: Dasgupta, P. (2007) "Economics: A Very Short Introduction", Oxford University Press.
