This year, students will choose one topic from the following 2 areas:
1. To analyze the challenges and/or achievements by foreign small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that have expanded to South East Asian countries or into Japan. Why are SMEs entering into specific Asian countries or into Japan? What are the factors of successful achievements? What are the challenges that SME companies face? How can you solve these issues? A sample case company or an industry will be announced in the first class (e.g. retail service or household goods manufacturing industry).

2. What are the challenges individuals face in education and labor market in Asian emerging countries? Why some struggle to find a matched job after university graduation? What is the current situation of income disparities and regional disparities that some Asian countries face?

To answer above questions, students will conduct their own research through literature review, data analysis through individual or group surveys, and analysis. Interviews with local entrepreneurs and practitioners encouraged. We aim to conduct own research and provide some suggestions based on the research results. The basic research tools and guidance will be provided in the class. Such research will be conducted by interacting with instructors, professionals by each individual or group and to draw conclusions within a given time.
