Course Outline and Method

本科目は、カナダのブリティッシュコロンビア大学において、世界の特定の国や地域に着目し、その場所の特異性について、種々様々な学術的観点から考察する。文化、社会、人種、歴史、文明、戦争、衝突、関係性、宗教、技術、貿易、経済など多岐に亘るキーワードを取り上げ、各国・地域が固有に抱える問題とともに、その問題に対する学問的アプローチ方法についても検討し、議論する。本科目で取り上げた国や地域を一つの特徴的なケースとして理解することで、世界を考察し分析するための独自の高度な視野を涵養することを目指す。

Student Attainment Objectives

・英語の4技能（Reading,Writing, Listening, Speaking)を総合的に学習し、日常やアカデミックな場面でも活用できる運用能力を身に付ける。

・カナダの文化、社会、人種、歴史等を学び理解を深めるとともに、カナダと日本に留まらず世界情勢を考察し、分析していくための視野を得ることを目指す。
