授業の概要と方法

The aim of this course is to critically evaluate written texts. This course includes reading, discussions, and presentations.

Note: This is not a lecture-style course. Students are expected to be active members of the class. There will be time for individual and group work throughout the course.

The course structure is:
1) pre-class reading
     • The lecturer will give you texts to read before each class. The lecturer will decide the texts based on the needs of the students.

(In the first session, there will be time for students to discuss with the lecturer what kind of texts & topics would be useful.)

2) class sessions
     • In lessons, the lecturer will set tasks based on the pre-reading texts. Students can do these tasks in groups or individually. Example tasks: Discussions, presentations, project work etc.

(The classes will follow an active-learning style. The teacher is there to guide you in these tasks. But there will be no lectures. Students must be actively engaged in the classes.)

3) post-class reflection
     • Students will be given brief reflection tasks to complete after class. these will focus on both the texts and students' own participation/performance in class.
