授業の概要と方法

主に時事問題を題材として、英語I, IIで身に付けた総合的な英語力をさらに伸長させる。特に、主要メディアによるニュース報道、時事的コラム、インターネット上の記事や意見等を深く掘り下げて学習することにより、時事問題に関する語彙・表現を広げ、国内外の問題を考えることを目的とする。具体的な学習項目は以下のいずれかを含む。
・英語圏で発行またはインターネット配信される新聞記事、コラム、雑誌の論評等を読み、国際情勢を理解する。また、理解した内容を自分なりにまとめ発信する。
・英語圏で放送されるニュースや特集リポート等を見て、国際情勢を理解する。また、理解した内容を自分なりにまとめ発信する。
・時事問題の背景を理解する。また、多様な見方があることを理解した上で、自分の意見を発信する。
小テストや授業内レポート・エッセイなどの課題については、授業内もしくはmanaba＋R上で講評を行う。

受講生の到達目標

英語圏で放送・発行されるニュース、記事、コラム等を大まかに理解でき、それらについて自分の意見を英語で発信できる。時事問題に関して、異なる立場を理解し多角的な視野を持つことができる。
