Course Outline and Method
Investigate and evaluate the outcomes of policies related to society, economy, and politics in Japan and around the world, reporting in English. Assess why and how certain policies achieved significant success or failed, based on concrete facts, statistics, and quantitative data, while considering the underlying causes and background. The work will be conducted both individually and in group settings.
Student Attainment Objectives
While enhancing each participant's ability to set their own research questions and their skills in information gathering and analysis, the ultimate goal is to improve communication skills within groups by understanding others' perspectives and expressing one's own opinions effectively. Additionally, international students are expected to deepen their interest in and understanding of Japanese society, while Japanese students are encouraged to broaden and deepen their understanding of international students' perspectives, providing an opportunity to reflect on their own society.
Recommended Preparatory Course
This class is open for the students with the following English ability: a TOEFL ITP®test score between 480 and 530, a TOEFL iBT®test score between 55 and 71, a TOEIC®test score between 580 and 630, an IELTS score above 5.0, or equivalent.
