授業の概要と方法



This course aims to raise awareness of cross-cultural issues through reading passages about intercultural communication. Classroom activities will require active communication and participation in the form of discussions and presentations. Furthermore, students will produce examples of writing such as messages, diary entries, and opinion pieces.

受講生の到達目標

To develop cross-cultural awareness, students will:

1. Recognize and discuss key cultural differences in communication styles, customs, and perspectives.

2. Improve Reading Comprehension:

Understand the main ideas and specific details of texts.
Use context clues to infer meaning and recognize cultural references in media.

3. Enhance Oral Communication Skills:

Engage in discussions on cross-cultural topics, expressing opinions with appropriate supporting arguments.
Deliver structured presentations on cultural issues, using clear pronunciation and effective body language.

4. Expand Vocabulary for Intercultural Communication:

5. Develop Critical Thinking and Media Literacy
Identify and evaluate cultural stereotypes and biases, and differentiate between factual reporting and opinion-based media content.

授業実施形態

Each of the topics covered will take one face-to-face class.

In each topic, a reading and or listening passage will be studied and useful vocabulary examined.

Conversational activities such as discussions, presentations and roleplays will also be completed.

授業外学習の指示

Students should carefully and systematically record and review all new vocabulary and incorporate it into the oral tasks that we complete.

These attainment objectives will be assessed by presentations and discussions. They will be graded on the use of language learned on the course and the demonstrated understanding of the content of the course.
