授業の概要と方法

主に時事問題を題材として、英語I, IIで身に付けた総合的な英語力をさらに伸長させる。特に、主要メディアによるニュース報道、時事的コラム、インターネット上の記事や意見等を深く掘り下げて学習することにより、時事問題に関する語彙・表現を広げ、国内外の問題を考えることを目的とする。具体的な学習項目は以下のいずれかを含む。
・英語圏で発行またはインターネット配信される新聞記事、コラム、雑誌の論評等を読み、国際情勢を理解する。また、理解した内容を自分なりにまとめ発信する。
・英語圏で放送されるニュースや特集リポート等を見て、国際情勢を理解する。また、理解した内容を自分なりにまとめ発信する。
・時事問題の背景を理解する。また、多様な見方があることを理解した上で、自分の意見を発信する。
小テストや授業内レポート・エッセイなどの課題については、授業内もしくはmanaba＋R上で講評を行う。

受講生の到達目標

英語圏で放送・発行されるニュース、記事、コラム等を大まかに理解でき、それらについて自分の意見を英語で発信できる。時事問題に関して、異なる立場を理解し多角的な視野を持つことができる。

Students should select two English-Language News sites from those recommended by the teacher and spend time each day reading the headlines and delving further into any of the articles that they feel are both of interest and important.
