授業の概要と方法
Information for “+R-Jugyo” will be posted on the “Course News” on manaba+R by September 20. Be sure to check the “Course News” on manaba+R.
This course aims at understanding main issues and theoretical frameworks in international and global political economy (IPE/GPE). The theme of this course ranges from the main actors in the international field, theoretical perspectives of the global dynamics, and institutional transformation of the global society. In this course, we will visit several International Relations (IR) theories to understand the institutional dynamisms and the meanings of specific affairs.
In the first part of this course (1-4), the course will grapple with the questions of what the IPE/GPE is and how major theories in IR, such as neoliberalism, institutionalism, constructivism, world-system theory, and postcolonial theory, capture the nature of the international/global order and major factors and actors that make it. In the middle of the course (5-7), we will examine the financial, economic, and mobile dimensions of the international/global society, in order to concretely understand the meaning of the transnational flows of labor powers, products, and money as the definition of globalization.
In this course, we will read some texts shown in the course schedule. In each class, students are provided with PowerPoint slides. Students are required to read all of the texts provided in this course and actively participate the discussion with students and the course instructor.
