This class places relative emphasis on reading skills although all four skills--reading, listening comprehension, speaking, and writing--are also incorporated into the class activities. We use the textbook that explores the origin of the modern world and interactions among Western and Eastern nations. As for English skills, this course will involve more critical thinking strategies in addition to the emphasis on extensive reading in international studies. The course also uses other materials, including best essays, book chapters, and speeches, to learn discussion and communication skills in English.

Student Attainment Objectives

Students will
master reading strategy, build vocabulary, develop critical thinking and analytical reading skills.
