Course Outline and Method

In CALL 2 (Computer-Assisted Language Learning), students engage in interactive learning through multimedia. Based on the skills acquired in CALL1, students are expected to further develop listening and oral production skills with natural English pronunciation and rhythm by watching authentic video news reports, lectures and speeches through the ‘English Central’ website. They will practice reading passages aloud, shadowing news reports, narrating documentaries, and reciting speeches. They will also review grammar and practice listening with the online English-learning program called ‘Gyuto-e’ in and out of class.
Throughout the semester, students will receive feedback on in-class activities and assignments from the instructor in order to develop their abilities.
<CALL2 classes will be basically taught online due to CALL classroom restrictions this year. Details will be explained by the instructor in class.>

Student Attainment Objectives

・To acquire natural English pronunciation and rhythm.
・To develop English proficiency--grammar, vocabulary, listening, reading and oral production skills.
・To comprehend the gist of video lectures, news reports and speeches on DVDs and the Internet.
