Course Outline and Method

In this class, students will learn basic skills for designing questionnaire surveys and conducting descriptive data analysis by using Excel and KH Coder software. The class is divided into two parts. In the first part of the class, the students will use the existing surveyed data and learn how to analyze data and present results. In the second half, students, by groups, will develop a questionnaire for an interview survey and analyze the data.

Student Attainment Objectives

Students will acquire:
(1) basic computer-aided statistical techniques for social survey data analysis
(2) skills for data processing, output display, and interpretation of analysis
(3) basic knowledge and skills in conducting a questionnaire survey.
