授業の概要と方法

【授業の概要】
Essential Oral Communication Skills
This course aims to improve students’overall English language proficiency with a focus on speaking and listening skills development. Teachers adopt a content-based or theme-based approach whereby topics connected to global society, intercultural communication and other contemporary themes are presented through a variety of media (including handouts, audio-visual material, PowerPoint presentations etc.). Special emphasis is placed on developing students' ability to express their opinions and participate in discussions in English.

【授業の方法】
　本科目は大学設置基準ならびに立命館大学産業社会学部則、立命館大学大学院社会学研究科研究科則において、区分を面接授業とする。詳細な実施方法については、manaba+Rのコースニュース、「授業スケジュール」および「授業実施形態」欄を確認のこと。

受講生の到達目標

This course will help students develop a range of skills including, for example, the ability to:
- listen to short lectures or presentations
(e.g. listen for gist; obtain factual information; infer meaning from context; take notes etc.)
- participate in small group discussions
(e.g. express opinions and support them; express agreement/disagreement; lead a discussion; summarize and report back on a discussion etc.)
- give a short oral presentation (e.g. structure a presentation with a clear introduction and conclusion; illustrate points with examples; use discourse markers to organize information etc.)

授業実施形態

第1～28回対面で実施する。
【+R授業 #1】（第1回授業の一部）１回目の授業までに実施します。
【+R授業 #2】（第8回授業の一部）8回目の授業の後に実施します。

授業外学習の指示

Class instructors will provide students with more information. 各担当者より指示します。
また自学自習の一つとして、BBP（Beyond Borders Plaza）の利用を推奨します。

成績評価方法

レポート試験（統一締切日を締切とするレポート）
上記以外の試験・レポート、平常点評価（日常的な授業における取組状況の評価）	100	課題、発表、出席、小テスト、授業参加を含む。詳細は授業で配布されるシラバスを確認すること。2/3 以上の授業に出席した者のみ成績評価の対象となる。出席点のみで単位を授与することはない。

Warning against Plagiarism（盗用/ 剽窃について注意）
Plagiarism is never allowed. Stealing from reference literature or other materials, direct copying of reports and essays that another person wrote, and/or copying from the Internet is not acceptable. Plagiarism is a clear violation to the right of the copyright holder, and RU will take strict disciplinary action for serious offenses.
言うまでもないことですが、盗用・盗作は許されません。参考文献やその他の参考となる資料から行なうことはもちろんのこと、友人等が作成したレポート・小論文の盗用・盗作・書き写しをしたり、インターネットからコピー・ペーストしたりすることも許されません。盗用・盗作行為は、著作権者に対する明らかな権利の侵害となるため、本学では悪質なものについて、懲戒の対象としています。

Students should purchase the required textbook from the Co-op (Seikyo) bookstore before the first class. Details of the textbook can be found on manaba+R. 第１回の授業までに自分のクラスを確認し、指定されているテキストを生協で購入して、第１回の授業に必ず持ってくること。なお指定教科書は、manaba+R　▶「産業社会学部生のページ」▶「産業社会学部の履修」<外国語科目：教科書>に掲載しています。
