Course Outline and Method

The aim of this course is the further development of what students acquired in the preceding course English R1 - efficient reading skills such as predicting, scanning and skimming. This course especially focuses on identifying main ideas of the passages so that students can adjust themselves to the more academic way of studying expected in the following semesters. Every unit of the textbook has two chapters, each of which includes the core reading passages together with exercises and activities for developing students' vocabulary. The second half of the textbook will be taught in R2.
Throughout the semester, students will receive feedback on in-class activities and assignments from the instructor in order to develop their abilities. Five class sessions will be delivered via media-based lessons in the semester.
