授業の概要と方法

This course, Introduction to Computational Linguistics, provides a comprehensive and non-technical overview of the field. In particular, we will explore the fundamentals of linguistics, focusing on the units of analysis of language at various levels. In addition, various techniques of natural language processing and applications such as machine translation will be also explored. Class assignments must be submitted electronically through the manaba+R.
Keyword: Language; Linguistics; Natural Language Processing; Machine Translation

受講生の到達目標

On successful completion of the course, students will:

1. be able to use key terms in linguistics.
2. expand their knowledge in English/Japanese lanugage.
3. understand ways in which topics in computational linguistics are related with those in subfields of linguistics.
4. be familiar with approaches to process language computationally.
