BIS II (ICD) builds on the work of BIS I (ICD) and is designed to help students to deepen their knowledge about global issues, while developing four skills of English language. This course focuses on connecting global issues and international society through the lens of Development Studies and related disciplines. The purpose of this course is to introduce students to various aspects of global issues and to help them form opinions and discuss issues.

Students will be introduced to a variety of issues, especially those concerning international cooperation and development. Teaching methodologies within an integrated four- skills approach include debate and discussion, group project work, mini-lectures, and simulation activities. Students will be given opportunities to reflect deeply on issues of international development to understand the content and to express critically formed opinions in debate and discussion.

Evaluation will be based on class participation in discussion, debates, and classroom activities, delivery of one individual presentation that will be based on the student's research interests, and performance on homework assignments, tests, a final paper, and one reflection exercise. Classes will be conducted face-to-face in the classroom on campus.
