授業の概要と方法

This course will explore the theories related to one of the most important concepts in moral, legal and political philosophy: justice. Policy science is mostly concerned with questions concerning how social policies are elaborated and implemented in practice. This course will instead address the question of how these policies and their implementation ought to be.

In the first part, students will learn the main types of the theory of justice: liberalism, libertarianism, communitarianism, and so on.

In the second part, students will know how these theories, especially the liberalist ones, are applied to various policy issues, such as global poverty, immigration, multiculturalism, and so on.

For the prevention of the spread of the Covid-19 in the class, the course will take into consideration the instruction issued by the College and the University. As to its teaching methods, students are required to follow the instructor's directions announced on Manaba+R.

受講生の到達目標

Upon completing this course, students should be able to:
- Become familiar with the theories of justice;
- Evaluate various policy issues in terms of these theories;
- Engage in philosophical discussions and relate them to our everyday problems.
